Sitting and Thinking

On a golden afternoon, a pensive Barred Owl sits in a beech tree.
Wood sculpture made with ash, poplar, and walnut. Each piece was carved, painted, and decorated with pyrography (wood burning). The sculpture was then assembled.

The wood is repurposed scrap. Most of it is from lumber cut and milled on our farm except for the walnut backboard which came from a storm-damaged tree in Ludlowville NY. We traded milling the lumber for some of the wood.
